Double Separator In Series or Parallel

Hello Experts,
Can we apply 2 separator vessels in series or parallel to increase Separation time? What type of controls would be required in this case?

If your oil separator is small you can add another oil separator to increase it .
This best way put new one in series.
Return oil should come to crankcase of compressor
And to be safe side with another pipe .

I am talking about refrigerant gas and liquid separator I.e low pressure compressor suction vessel.

Sorry I had mistakes.
To build and make this system might cost more money than make big one .

To do that system should be parallel and should be connected from butom and top side with large size pipes . (To have equal level liquid in both separators)
Bottom line should have oil drain.

It is better your inlet liquid and suction line from Condenser and Evaporators come to one side and your out line suction to compressores goes from other one.
Again to build and operate one big liquid separator is better than to have 2 liquid separator in parallel.

Are you proposing parallel separator vessel?
What are disadvantages of series system?

Separators work by slowing down the velocity of the suction gas as it flows through a vessel. The gas slows down and the liquid falls out. There are some ways to increase the effectiveness of a separator as mbc mentioned.
Putting them in series might work somewhat but I do not believe that it would be nearly as effective as a properly designed larger vessel.

As you told .

we can not use series in suction separator
We have to pump liquid to our system
All retrun liquid from suction line and also from receiver would be in frist one and also we should have enough surface area for boiling of NH3 Liquid so second one does not doing any work to us .

One big one is better 2 small one and it should be in parallel.

But in oil separator series is better than parallel
