Hi every one
i have SMC 108LL MK4 compressor oil temp. always high about 79.5 C .oil cooling by water about 25 C and oil pressure is 5.3 bar but oil filter diff. is 2.5 bar is that high need to change oil filter? and what the reasons of high oil temp.?

What are the operating conditions? Discharge pressure and temperature? and suction pressure?
Oil temp should be around 10K above saturation temperature of high stage.
Oil pressure Should be between 4,5 and 5 bars, Filter diff is also high, replace filter.
What are the return temp of cooling water? Have check the oil sump cooling jacket top to see if it dirty?
If you close the suction valve when the compressor is stopped, does pressure equalize to discharge pressure on suction?

Maximum oil temperature is 80 deg C
Oil filter differential is 4 bar alarm, 6 bar trip.

You need to service compressor, check/change all valve plates & springs, as something may be broken.
Clean water jackets, change oil filter, clean compressor crankcase.

When was it serviced last & what was done?

Only use genuine parts if you want reliable compressor.

Sound is not right to me .
4 bar for alarm and 6 bar for trips.
Our (different )oil pressure is 4 .
I do adjust alarm before and after oil filter 0.8 up to 1 bar . And trip 1.2 bar.

I think correct.
Oil pressure meant to be set at 4.5 bar, alarm 4 bar, trip 3.5 bar
Oil filter differential alarm 4 bar, trip 6 bar as is on discharge of pump before oil pressure regulator.
I guess at end of day you will not get enough oil pressure.
I will send information to you.
Assume Sabroe is correct, but could be a misprint!

Oil pressure max.6/5.5 min.4/3.5
Oil temperature mx.80/75 min.45/40 C
Oil filter max 6/4 bar
Discharge pipe max.150 C

This is factory settings.
You must open and overhaul compressor because there is big problem inside.

Normally our oil pressure for SMC Type is 4
Up to 4.5
So I think 1 for alarm and 1.5 for trips is a best chose .

I think big problem if oil pressure 1.5 bar.
Unloaders need minimum 3.5 bar to work correctly.

1.5 for max. drop pressure in oil filter
Ofcourse Min. Pressure after oil filter should more than 3.5

MBC I follow instruction from Sabroe.
Some serious guys in factory made this compressor.
Technical service guys like us can make some suggestion but we can not be smarter then factory.
At the end I always put factory settings(oil filter) and oil filter clogged , just change it and unit running perfect.

Look our oil pressure (different pressure between pressure of oil gage and suction pressure gauge pressure) normally is between 3.8 up to 4.3 .
So how the our drop pressure in our oil filter can be 3.5 or more .
The Max. Drop pressure in all filter should not be more than 1 bar in all type of compressors.
