These guys live day by day, if they make it home just lucky day, like policeman or military.
Looks like normal day walking past multiple issues to get to breakdown (reactive).

Everyone has a few old places like these, but where do you draw the line?

A Few Refrigeration Issues On An Ammonia System - YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-F42vfn2HM&t=151s)

At end of video just pulls the plug.
Place should be shut down.

Flooded Evaporator Ammonia valve replacement In A Tight Spot - YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=khESGmDvxz8&t=1186s)

In both videos does not clean strainer, second one bolt missing from strainer, also draining oil with some old valve that may or may not close.

16 Cylinder Ammonia compressor Rebuild - YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=so0Vg0cM1V0&t=7s)

No check high level, why did it get liquid, no check oil trip switch, why would you not prime crankshaft with oil before start to avoid dry running not showing the important stuff

RANGER1,
I call it the House of Horrors, and I refuse to work in such operations. My health takes precedence over customers' money. By law, they have to take care of such equipment and thus it is safe for service and customer operation.

Josef.

Hi,

unfortunately first link is not working at least for me .... private video ...

Agree with you RANGER1 ... i.e. with your questions .... seems modern school classes are
not as they used to be ..... primary teach the students to use the brain ...

... think and check what was a reason for malfunction ... and then repair it ...

There is a line but sometimes very hard to find where to draw it ....
agree with Josef too .... some places are "weird" i.e. dangerous ... have been there,
fortunately walk out in one piece and alive (mybe was lucky) ...

Nowadays for sure will not work on dangerous places ... not for me, but for other
people working with me .... cannot put them in danger ... no sir ...

Best regards, Josip

Find leak, but does not fix, run up, hope it does not happen again, great work.
