hope this is the right thread to post
I have an ice machine that appears to have the wrong capillary tube(it has been changed) Just looking for advice re evaporator (gas) temps I was thinking minus 10 to -15 ish . It currently runs at -25 . Im happy with gas charge I just want to know expected suction temps - I would think it would be higher at the start of cycle then drop as ice is formed
Thanks for any help

Hi
In big capacity for ice machine make is about -20 to -30
(Chrasher)
More tempratur more thicknes and more capacity

Should be higher at start of cycle, but with capillary system is restricted, as is a fixed orifice so discharge pressure, water distribution etc

Are you happy with ice quality & production?

Thanks.
Not happy with ice production, it runs like its low on gas freezes the first part of evap, I added gas but suc temp seems to low - even at start of cycle with warmish water suc temp -25. Im sus on capilliary because its been changed. I would have expected higher suc temp at start of cycle at least.
Cant weigh in gas as its a no name, no info.

-15˚C to -17˚C at the end of freezing cycle for hollow cubes icemaker (finger type evaporator) with agitator is normal.
If that is your type, than you probably have restriction on filter drier or cappilary restriction or faulty cappilary lenght.
Normal cycle time is around 20 min.

If you have sprayer type icemaker with full cube than at about -15˚C starts time phase of ice making, and at end of time phase, depending of cube size, you could have below -20˚C evaporation temperature.
