chaps

got a swimming pool heat pump which has a tag rating of 45,000 btu . 1503615037 no problem

however the compressor has failed and investigations reveal it's rated at 24,000 btu.

apart from heat of compression what am I missing?

pool temp 27c outdoor air averages 25c

TIA

Somebody was pulling a fast one, who confirms that a piece of ready made kit is working as per specification?

Install in the summer and get a quick look warm up.

Had the same in the summer on a pool heater first time I had looked at it but unit had two new comps in twelve months thought comp looked small at time checked rating plate and approx 2 kws short of data plate spoken to manufacture who advised me there is a 2.5 kw immersion element in the tank to give its output went back fitted comp found element failed got that replaced got total output and a comp that turned off at least we found out why customers electric bill had gone down !

The actual capacity of the compressor in the pool heater application would well be greater than the rated capacity of the compressor if it's rated at air conditioning condensing and evaporator temps. With the 27C/25C water and air, the saturated suction could be as high as 15C and condensing as low as 35C. That would kick it way up, though not double...

.

45000 btu is about 13kW and input power on
data plate says it is 2.37kW.

If that is the case then you has an efficiency rating of
13/2.37 = 5.4 so that sounds reasonable

Are you saying that after checking the system is only
rated at 24000 btu or the comp is rated at 24000 btu?
