Got a question for what everyone thinks is the proper procedure.

I have a walk in freezer that has ice build up on the walls and the hole for electrical and line set. I know exactly where the air leaks are. The question is what is the best way to thaw out the ice and make sure the moisture is gone before sealing the leaks up. There is a small time frame the freezer can be shut down. Does anyone recommend using halogen lights to sit overnight?

Thanks

how long is this time frame and how quickly will it get to setpoint from room temp?
hair drier or hot air gun and a can of expanding foam

Turn off all refrigeration and fans etc.., Bang off all obvious ice build ups with out damaging anything, get hold of one of those space heater things, they look like a jet engine with an LPG bottle attached, sit in door way sucking outside air and venting through same door, do not walk away as could destroy the whole room with heat, once everything has thawed out stop the heat and use fan only to vent moist air. Mop out water etc., The outer skin of freezer enclosure is your vapour barrier, make sure , totally sure that it is sealed.
Make sure you have pressure balance ports installed, they are flip flop paddle things that release pressure what ever which way. In or out. Once enclosure temp has stabilised back to ambient and is dry, restart your refrigeration system, all up could take only 3 hours to sort out, unless you have a room the size of Manhattan Island
