Heat Pump Problems

I have a Goodman heatpump with a Copeland Scroll compressor. The compressor was grounded so I have changed out the compressor. The compressor failed due to loose compressor wire. So I put in the new compressor and partially charge the unit by dumping liquid into the liquid line. I then start the compressor and the pressures are equalized and amp draw is 6.3 and is rated for 18 Amps. Finally the compressor shuts off so I feel the compressor and the compressor is hot. I figure that the compressor has an internal by-pass and just got too hot and shut down on thermal. Now, I leave the unit and come back the next day and start the compressor. This time the suction is 50 and head is 100. I pull the fan wire off to raise head pressure but it stays at 100. I then pull off the "O" wire for the reversing valve and the guage needle falls. I pull on and off several times and the guage needle does move each time. I know the unit is not fully charged but am not sure exactly whats going on. Any suggestions?

was the system pressure tested?
did you change filter driers?
did you vac it out?

Yes, pressure tested to 100 psi and evacuated to 800 microns. I thought blockage too but then why are my pressures not equalized now?

Are you checking pressures in heat mode or cool mode? And to which ports are you attaching your gauges?

If pressures are low then reversing valve may not operate properly.

Did you use OFN whilst you were brazing?
Sure the burned/loose wire was the cause and not a symptom?
Is the heating and the cooling cycles using different expansion/metering devices?

this is scroll compressor.have you check the rotation?

Check reversing valve.

Moideen it is a single phase compressor

Viking, It is possible that the wire was a symptom but it was pretty loose and had melted insulation.
The cooling side uses an orfice for metering and the heat side uses a TXV

Checking pressures in cool mode and am connecting to the common suction port and liquid line service valve.
