What's everyones take on systems running on R410a.
Which have non 5/16" flare fittings?
I thought they were supposed to be that size to stop usuitable hoses And gauges being used?

It says something about the quality and the manufacturer.

.

Are you talking about AC systems or other types of equipment?

Some heat pumps that use 410 use the normal sized connectors.
But I did not know AC systems were on 1/4 conections.......

I wonder if the producers have thought that 410 has been out there
for long enough for us to be able to work on them regardless of the fittings.

Maybe they think "whats the point" if you can buy adapters that just fit on
the 1/4 gauges converting them to 410a........

Hi Coolrunnings.
Slight confusion here I think?
I am actually talking about small Chillers that are on R410a.
I like your comment about the adaptors available, thats where I am confused.
As I ask! Is the perceived purpose of the 5/16" flare fittings just a nice idea?

I don't know if 410a fittings are regulated or if the manufacturers voluntarily use 5/16 fittings.

Fittings are standard for all refrigerants (except ammonia) including C02 so maybe manufacturers
are not obliged to intall differant conections............
