Evo Crete

Heat craft is selling these evocrete slabs and ac mounting blocks that look like concrete but are three times lighter than a concrete. Has anyone tried them and any problems? Splitting cracking any thing.

I've used similar here, no issues but doesn't grip rawlplugs etc the way concrete does, way easy to lift up a ladder though!

theyre crap- as al states u cannot fix onto them, if u cant carry a 3x2 flag up a ladder then use condenser blocks- preferably 1mtr long ones if the condenser is in an exposed area with a risk of toppling over- otherwise 2 2x2 flags- or use condenser wall brackets mounted at low level

Well I would imagine a non masonry product would be screwed into not pluged, and yes the weight of the base could be a issue for support in some applications. Thanks guys. And hopefully I never have to carry a 900 by 450 concrete slab up ladder. A bit more gym time time for that one.

We have been using these Evo-Crete slabs ever since a rep dropped around a free sample and they have been great. We generally use the Evo-Crete slabs when we have to install over existing concrete, otherwise we use Polyslab's if the outdoor unit will be mounted in a garden or surround.

We just completed a new development and used Evo-Crete slabs across the whole job and it worked really well. The builder had specified concrete so we couldn't use Polyslab's. As there were more than 215 units to install if we had of used normal concrete we would have ended up lugging more than 9t of concrete. On such a big job Polyslab's would have been ideal as we can fit a heap into our site container but the Evo-Crete worked well and was a far better option than concrete. We simply stored them next to the container and none went walking as I assume anyone looking at them would have thought it was normal concrete.

As for securing down we find that the new slabs are much better than concrete slabs as concrete seems to shatter every now and again when drilling them for a plug. The new slabs we simply use the mounting kits that are available for Evo-Crete. Great little kits that come complete with iso mounts and stainless steel washers and specialised Evo-Crete screws. We don't even predrill simply screw down with the cordless and if your keen enough you can use a hand screwdriver.

We have had a few of the new slabs crack but concrete would have in the same circumstances. The good thing with the news slabs is the reinforcing they have in them holds them together and often we have been able to still use slabs with minor cracks in them. I remember when concrete slabs had reinforcing in them but that seems a thing of the past.

Haven't used the AC Blocks as yet but I couldn't see a problem with them, and they would be far better lasting than the crap PVC mounts getting around.
