Daikin brc230z8 controller backlight not working

Hi guys,
The above controller used to have backlights which came on for a short time when any buttons were pressed. Now they don't. My question is this a setting on the controller, always on, always off, set time on button press. If so what are the codes to set it up. Or has my controller just failed

Can't see anything in the controller instructions about backlights so it looks like they have failed.
