I have a Trane Medium duty compressor showing a high Intermediate Oil pressure. Compressor starts, all condenser fans are running . I can watch the pressure rise over 5 minutes or so and then the compressor shuts down on pressure. I am looking at changing the oil filter and valve behind it but need service book on procedure and parts breakdown. Can anyone fix me up with either or have any opinions on my problem ??

check the solenoid is possible that the filter is clogged or damaged bronze this valve, to change the filter can make a pumpdown, close the valve on the oil filter cover, remove the screws and the allen screw to depressurize the filter

Hi,
Let us know following:
Full model number of compressor.
Alarm message in display.
High, low and oil pressure readings just before shut down.
Model & serial number of unit.
If the oil pressure is about 1 bar bellow high pressure then oil circuit (filter – check valve) is ok.
With these data I can give you my opinion and parts list.

CV

Thanks for the Post CV,

Unit is a Trane RTAC 2504 ULON S/N U06C06788
Compressor CHHP 0N 2 TKEON 134 A S/N VA 6 C 4937

Fault code Says High Intermediate Oil Pressure Alarm.

I can watch it rise all the way to around 300 PSI before it shuts down. All fans are running, coils clean.

Hi,
It is a fault that I don’t know.
In logical aspect the highest pressure of the system is the high refrigerant pressure.
Oil pressure should be lower than high refrigerant pressure.
I suggest you to check oil pressure transducer and maybe to replace it.
If you want to replace the filter and oil check valve the part numbers are:
FLR03434, GKT03852, RNG01697, VAL07307.
According to S/N U06C06788 you have suction and discharge valves.
Close them and also close oil line and distillation or oil return line.
Use a pump out tool to remove the refrigerant from compressor and put it to evaporator or condenser.
You will need a 2’’ socket for oil check valve.
The rest you will understand when you are in the front of compressor with new parts on hand.
Don’t forget to isolate power from the compressor.
Transducer part number is TDR00305 but since unit is constructed on 2006 it should have flat communication cable, so you may need TDR00335 + KIT12559.
Replaced transducer need software binding. If you don’t know how to do it, please call TRANE.

CV
