walk in freezer.problem.

hi can anyone assist

unable to get superheat within specified
range have ajusted and changed orrafice evaporating at -30 r404 ext expansion valve .
the freezer worked ok previously.
someone else has worked on kit not running as well'
making ajustments unable to get valve to start hunting size 2 orrafice changed up3/ 4/5 as valve had heavily frosted/ ice present on body . and only half cooling evap rest of passes.
15sqm room 3/4 1/2 pipe 2hp copressor.
pumped down an changed orrifeces ajusted.valve opening and closing ,
i can get the room to freeze but not happy with the wide disparity superheat getting -26 -2 on return bulb temp.can anyone adivize on orrafice selection?
the evaporator is slightly oversized for the room not had this problem before normaly ajust charge/exp valve .

u say u pumped it down-did u purge the air out the liq line or vac it out? how much subcooling u getting off the cond,is the drier choked? check inlet/outlet temp accross drier,is the inlet gauze clogged,prob short of gas-is liq line warm?

billy bunters Join Date 15-09-2008 so unless he's been hiding under a rock for 3yr,i think he prob had his 2078 too. i have reviewed franks 2079 thread but theres over 150posts so if billy is a domestic toilet unblocker who wants to maul with a freezer then good luck to him if he hasnt got basic skills.also the owner of the plant would hopefully ask for methods,risk assesments and copiies of liability insurance.-but st the end of the day his freezer aint freezing! so unless we're gonna start charging for advice im willing to help the needy!

Hi Billy

the valve should not need adjusting unless someones been fiddling...go back to original orifice size, mid seat the valve ... pull down to zero, then adjust superheat to 5k - take reading at 3 o'clock just past bulb or 7k on suction pipe near compressor

Always allow system to settle in between valve adjustments - common mistake is expecting instant response

If still having problem check coils are clean/air flow ok & check for clear feed of liquid to txv, look for blockage (drier) & correct charge

welcome to the club! we have to be on out toes as there are lots of mongs and plumbers fishing for our vast knowledge and then do one before a thank you or an update-if u have a blue peter badge then i bet u made tracey island !!!!
on the same topic my angry misses has just turned on the central heating and she isnt gas safe!!!! she hasnt cleaned the flue out or checked combustion levels ,inlet pressures or done a drop test on me gas main!!! shall i chin her and report her to rogue traders!!!!haha
