Door Heater Tape

I need to fit a heater cable into a door frame, ( freezer room) to stop door sticking to frame.

Not having ever bought one before, would welcome some advice on which type to buy and from where

I did also ask some time back if it was ok to leave the evaporator condensate drain heater permanently on. It is not self regulating.

best bet is to talk to a panel erector as they deal with doors and heaters day after day. they are usually a wide flat heater tape in the frame connected to a transformer box. in some cases when they go down it means a door off job. the heater tape can be left on all the time in a freezer, but if fitted internal to the drain make sure you dont have half of it dangling outside the box.

can supply and advise on requirments they supply a no of types such as flat tape,cables, mains + low voltage

first measure the door frame and total the length needed not forgeting the threshold under the frame or the bottom of the frame if it runs arround it like a square,add a mtr for termination tails and wastage,it will be 1/2 or 3/4" wide,take a trim off and check first then order it from thermo dynamics,icefree etc.

have you checked the transformer out as its normaly the output fuse in the box,sure you have,check the voltage going to the tape against the tapping numbers inside the lid,also for high setting for a freezer,thats were it all go,es wrong,right output,right length tape,alls good,varie from that and its burnt out fuses,no heat,etc.good luck.:)

Hello friend

You do not "just fit" a heating strip.
It comes in a special groove in the door frame, covered with a flat piece a aluminum for good heat transfer.

I will post some pictures of the freezer I am working on now.

Try Thermaldynamics. 01793431539. They can supply flat 1/2" or 1/4" heater tape plus transformer boxes. They will tell you what you need. I use them all the time.
