hi!

I have a Trane RTAC 155 tripping on low oil flow (code 198)

The low oil flow on ckt1 was tripping just seconds after the compressor start running,
made me suspicious it could be caused by bad transducers/sensors.
After connecting with techview unbind/binding the relevant transducers/sensors for this alarm, the unit now runs fine for a couple of days then trips out on low oil flow again ( code 198).

anyone have experienced this problem or have some thoughts about the solution?
(im sorry for bad english)
Cheers! :)

Hi ref-tech.
I don't know the maintenance history for the screw yuou are talking about.
But have you considered changing the oil and oil filter before the sensors?
And or the check valve?

Check out the attached and you will see that a delay is built into the start-up software.

Good Luck and let us know how you get on?

Hi Grizzly, and thanks for fast reply :)

ive been looking at the maintenance history and it doesnt seem like the oil filter/oil has been changed. (The chiller was installed in year 2004/2005).

our first consideration was to change oil and oil filter, but the company who installed the chiller ment it had to be the pressure transducer reading inaccurate.

will try remove the transducer and pressurize it with nitrogen to see if it reads accurately.

i appreciate your help, and will look further into it this week.

stay in touch :)

we had the same problem with on of our chillers rtac250.
trane guys changed the pressure trasducers
it worked only days
we contacted the trane guys
they recomanded to change the compressor internal oil filters
we found that successful
now the unit is working fine
