smiles buttons

When I start a new thread I get the smiles buttons to the right but when I am responding to another post they seem to be absent and I don't know how to find them. Please enlighten me....thanks

Ignore that... I just hit the advanced button and, tada....there she was bye (said in newfoundland accent, assuming you have ever heard one):p

it is always like that .... all good is hidden under advanced button ;) I had the same problem too...

If you want you can use the keyboard directly..
Spaces added to stop actual action
: ) = :)
: ( = :(
; ) = ;)
: D = :D
