Hello,I have a LG C12AWR from 2005 but I canīt get it to work properly. In autumn/winter 2005 I had the complete unit "repaired" by the suplier for more than several times, but after each visit the machine still refused to go into "defrostmode" alltough the outdoor temp was below zero(Celsius). After another week, the suplier gave up and installed a brand new unit on my house (LG-warranty) which has provided us with heat since then.
Now five years later the first unit is still in my garage, forgotten I presume together with all spare parts they changed. In - outdoor main PCB,outdoorfan,rectifier,4-way valve, are new. New 410 was refilled several times, but nothing helped this machine not to become a pile of frost and ice in the next 24 hours. (Error code was never shown in the display) Defrostlamp was lit for 5 minutes every firsttime you started up!! What can be wrong ???

Best regards from Bostonne in Sweden :)

Are you asking about your new system or about the pile of junk in your garage?

LG units show the defrost light for 5minutes in heating mode when you first turn it on. That light also stands for pre heat which means the unit is warming up and wont blow air until the it has gotten the indoor coil warm enough.

This is normal and when the unit goes into defrost mode that light will also come on again and the indoor fan will turn off.

If the unit will not go into defrost mode when it is covered in ice then it sounds like a sensor fault.

Hello Charlie P! My ambient room temperature is 20īcelcius where the indoor unit will be located. Today itīs heated by 2Kw electric oilradiators. (Cost for 10Kwh is Ģ1.35 incl.tax, net and Vat.)

I forgot to mention that outdoor unit is overcharged with 50 gram 410 and has so been every time they have tried to relive the machine. Linings are about 3 meter.
I wonder why they didnīt change the sensors, when everything else is changed??
