Honeywell T-stat Unecessarily Calls for AUX Heat

I just installed a new 3 ton Grandaire 2H/1C heat pump in July with an off the shelf Honeywell Heat Pump T-stat from Home Depot. The HVAC tech who came out to my home noticed the T-stat was calling for AUX heat though the room temp was only 1 degree short(71) of the set temp(72). My Nov electric bill was $150 and my Dec electric bill was $230. We disconnected the white wires for the aux on the t-stat and off W2 on the air handler contacts. The unit has 140F degree suction temp so it doesn't need the aux heat even though it was 32F outside. The house heated just fine. The t-stat though was still calling for AUX though it was disconnected from the AUX on the contact board. What t-stat is rated for this heat pump? Also, has anyone heard of this or seen this happen, know the solution?

It is Honeywell Model RTH2410 5-1-1 Programmable Thermostat

According to the manuals on the Honeywell site you seem to have a suitable stat as the RTH2410 5-1-1 is for a 2H/1C system.

You can turn off the AUX option via the system set-up of the stat.

edit: Forgot to say, the stat is designed to switch at 1°F from set point so it seems to be doing it's job.

1. I would like to have aux heat when the outside temp dips down to about 15, guessing that would then require a little booster. Is there a way to set the lockout to kick the aux on @ 15? Also, since I am being told this AUX wire comes into play in the summer when cool call is made I need to wire this back up (not sure if this is true).

2. I have the operator's manual and the Quick Installation guide but I don't have the advanced manual, how do I get that?
