Hi Guys,

I need some help with a Toshiba unit model above. The unit will not go in to heating mode. There is no error codes on the controller it works in cooling mode when put in to pump down via the push button on the outdoor unit

so it wont go in heating or cooling via controller?
Is this a hard wired remote?
Is there a display on remote?
Will it work in test mode on controller?

check the soloinods are energising in the multi box-sometimes the coils burn out! thus disabling heating mode

If I remember correctly, these units do not have an LP switch.
Check your running pressures in cooling mode

Also, if the remote controller comms has a problem (E1) then fault codes will not show up on the remote controller

Let us know how you get on

Hey CoolDude,

Do you get cooling output but no heating?

Is your indoor unit running in heat mode? ie are the fans spinning.

If so they shouldn't be and you may have a problem with the coil sensors.

You can read the sensors through the controller.

Press 'spanner' and 'clear' together for 4seconds, then use the up\down temperature buttons to change the right hand display. 00-01-02 etc

On left the four digit display is temp in degC.

01= controller sensor
02= standard return sensor
03= indoor coil temp TC
04= indoor coil temp TCj

Look at 03 & 04 if they are below about 30°C then the indoor fans should be off. If above the fans will run and if high enough will stop heat mode.

To exit sensor reading mode press the 'spanner' button once.

Or are you saying that you cannot select heat mode on the controller? In this case you'll need to check the 'item codes' to ensure all modes are initiated.

You could try the test mode. Stop system at the on\off button. Then press 'spanner' for 4 secs, turn system on and use mode button to select which mode you want to test.

To exit press test.

One suggestion get the service manual from your distributor and also ask them for the Technical Handbook. Both may well be on-line somewhere.

Cheers

PS Install Monkey this isn't a VRF system and it isn't R22 or R407C so your comment about duff solenoid coils isn't relevant.
