Had a call today from a electrician who was asked to look at a Stuart icemaker. As he is several hours away i could not check it myself. On the single phase compressor, there is the start and run capacitors but the start capacitor has a built in relay on top of it. As there appears to be no wiring diagram on site, does anyone know why the relay is incorporated in the cap... mike.

Yeh, as far as i know. Called Heatcraft Cairns and Rockhampton branches but they didn't know of such a thing. Compressor will not start with just run and start caps only. I've known the sparkie for some time so i just went through all the usual formalities with him on the phone. I'm thinking the compressor is seized but i cannot find anything on the net about this relay/cap.

Google SUPCO they make an RCO series of capacitors with built in relays and also now do hard start up to 3HP.
Maybe some one retro fitted this not having the original replacement available.
