Hey guys I've got a 6 yr old Copleland scroll not working. Blows fuses right away.
Checked for short to ground...none.
Did find open windings either.
Any clues?

3 phase or single phase? Have you meggered the windings?

Check the grounding with HV tester. Bearing might have ceased. Have you measured winding resistances

Hi
I would also suggest seized, and or not motor rated fuses.

Why so much checking?
Just change it. Afterwards open it in the shop and find out what went wrong inside.

Don't forget - always change contactor and over load when replacing compressor.

Dear chemi- cool
why he had to change contactor and over load?
But after every short current you should check all main contactor in that line and all fuse

check comp. might it claps. or if it has two winding 1 +2 you should start with 1 then 2 or both of that together.
what is the type of winding of comp.

No open windings you have to check not for open windings (r= 0 ohm --> =0A, so no current) but for interconnected windings or asymmetrical or wrong resistance of the windings.

chemi said it ....6 yrs old .... make a few quid.... but i would check relay +caps if 220v.... other wise all of the above
