Hi all,

I am still in the processing of completing my CITB 2078 safe handling written paper but have trouble with the following questions. I find they are not worded the best too, any help would be much appreciated. Many Thanks.

Candidate’s Instructions

Given an evacuated refrigeration system which has been pressured and leak tested:

· Charge that system with a zeotropic blend, with minimum contamination and loss to atmosphere and minimum hazards to health and property.

· Check the system for leaks and take appropriate action if leakage is discovered.

List below the running conditions you have measured/calculated/observed to confirm the system is properly charged and running to optimum efficiency.

Given a refrigeration system:

· Recover the refrigerant from that system to a recovery cylinder, with minimum loss to atmosphere and minimum hazards to health and property.
· Prepare the cylinder for transportation, in compliance with regulations.
· Describe a suitable procedure for recovering refrigerant from

a) A serviceable plant

b) A plant which cannot be run

Q1. Working to relevant British Standards, what pressure should be achieved to pressure leak test a new or modified refrigeration system?

Hi Aaron001,

Why are you doing this qualification any more?

Where are you doing this qualification?

It is worthless now that the F-Gas regulations are in place.

You should be taking the new F-Gas Qualification - City & Guilds 2079.

I am doing it in Chesterfield. These are re-sit questions that I have not done since last year.

Also 2078 is still valid till 2011 right?

2078 is only valid if it was taken prior to march 2009, not sure exact month.
The training people should have advised you of this if you have parted with any money I would ask for refund and book for 2079 with reputable training centre.

all questions you are asking are in the guidance book supplied when you take the course

They are not all questions anyway, they are procedures to be completed.

Only Q1 is a separate question and you should know that one or be able to find the answer.

But, as stated above, 2078 is worthless now.

Aaron,

I think you are mixing up your training agencies.
Are you sure you are not doing the CITB J11??

You should at least know which exam you are doining!!

In all fairness mate if you have to ask for help with those questions
are you upto the correct grade to pass??

The information you are asking is basic and you should know it.

If we give you the answers are we helping you???

As the others state you are wasting your time and money doing the 2078
(it is City & Guilds by the way not CITB), it is not a valide qualification if
taken now. It is only valid if you already had it last year. You need to do
the C&G 2079 or the CITB J11.

all the best taz

The rules of Constructionskills (CITB) says you will not take the questions outside the assessment room. If you do basicaly you've failed.
As others have said, make sure you are doing the qualification beginning with J, ie J11 for any quantity of F-gasses.
If you read the guidance notes provided the answers although not shown directly can be found quite easily.
