Hi Guys,

I am desigining a diffusion tank for the following purpose:

We have a chiller with a 15degF temperature difference. It takes 60 degree water and cools it to 45 degrees.

On the other side of the diffusion tank, we are taking in water at 120 and pushing it out at 60.

We are designing the flow rates so that the Qin = Qout and the temperature of the diffusion tank stays the same.

The issue we have, is how do we size the diffusion tank? We want to be such that the chiller takes in 60 degree water, so it stays efficient.

Thanks for the help

Is it the same water?
To recap, you have water entering at 120F you want to cool to 60F
You are supplying 45F as and want to return back to chiller at 60F.
Are these fluids to mixed or kept seperate.
Which of these fluids is controlled (flow rates)

Buffer mixing tanks I work on a minimum of 20% of water pumped through the chiller per hour, Use an internal baffle 2/3 way up tank, and cross flow pipe work. Return process water into top of one side, supply to chiller bottom of same side, the baffle allows water balancing levels.
