Hi everyone!

I am working on a project to get ready for the new regulations on R-134a (we have to start keeping track of leaks soon) and I need to be able to find out how much is being lost tot he environment. I have the amount of refrigerant added each year to the two chillers and the total charge, some temperatures and such, but I am not sure if the new stuff added simply replaces the refrigerant that is lost "naturally" or if it is probably caused by maintanence work. Any help? Thanks.

Refrigerant should never leak naturally.

There is at least one hole somewhere if you are always topping it up.

Naturally is not possible unless there is a leak in the system

Even if your maintenance engineers were sloppy with connecting and disconnecting hoses, you would have to have a lot of visits by them per year to warrant refrigerant loss on a chiller to such an extent that you have to add more!!

You must have a leak somewhere on the system.

Your system should not have leak.
Mainly leaks from: lose nuts –seal of compressor in open system-weak welding pipe- Flexible pipe and Also around of leaks you see is oily ((greasy))
