As we all know that R407C system should use POE oil, how about the R22 system use POE oild? When using POE, is it the lubricating effect better or worse in r22 sytem?

I would think that POE would be the better oil with R22. Mineral oil would be cheaper though. Is this a new system?

I agree with M.S.
May I also add that when using the newer synthetics.
Be aware that they tend to clean up a system.
And have been known to shorten the working life of shaft seals.
Once the system has cleaned it's self though the plant will run forever before an oil change is necessary.
Whereas mineral Oil is good for 5,000 hrs synthetic can be good for 20,000hrs.

R22 is 100% miscible in POE oil and only about 30% miscible in Mineral oil - lubrication and oil return will therefor improve:)

Do you have anything to support your opinion? Any experiment?Thesis?Paper?

We use the R407C coperland compressor in R22 system and found many compressor be damaged. We are looking for the reason? Now I am studing the lubricant because the main change in compressor is from mineral oil to POE oil. I dare that will be one of the reason.

You mean it's better to use mineral oil in R22 system for R22 is only 30% miscible with mineral oil?

First,are you sure the miscibility is only 30%?
Second,if the miscibilty of R22 and mineral oil is poor, in the bottom of the crankcase, there will be much oil, so the lubrication will be better, right?

Only my and other store engineers (At the time there were approx 35 Cold stores in the group) experience over the first 2/3yrs of changing R22 Clavus 68 systems to R22 / Mobil Artic synthetic!

We tried to talk to each other!
