Hello, just wondering if anyone could give me a answer on a question i have been given.
1) If your suction gauge is reading 5 bar, what is the absolute pressure ?
am i right in saying 6 bar because of atmospheric pressure ?

You are correct, so when indicating pressure you say Barg (gauge pressure) or Bara (absolute) simple really

It's almost that :).
However please note that if you are in a region of great altitude it will not be 101 kPa (1,01 bar) but less. This is extremelly important especially when you are made vacuum to a plant where you should get about 5 mbar absolute.
