Hi, my fridge/freezer combination makes a howling windy noise like arctic winds.

What could be wrong?

Thank you

Is it outside on top of a mountain?

Do you keep wolves in the fridge?

Can't think of anything else...

Is the noise coming from the freezer compartment?

No, the noise is coming from the back where the compressor and other stuff are situated.

Depending on what type of fridge you have, it's either

a) a condenser fan running underneath (check to make sure airflow isn't restricted due to a dirty coil), or

b) when the compressor isn't running, you will have refrigerant 'whooshing' noises around the system as the refrigerant naturally moves around until it settles.

If it is cooling properly (+2 to +8 Celsius) in the fridge and (-18 to -22) in the freezer, it's ok.

Hope this helps. :)
