Ice crusher

i have made an evaparator which i allow water to run down,when the ice has bulit up on the evaporator hot gas causes the ice to fall into an insulated water tank
my problem is i have lengths of ice 16 " long and 3 1/2 " diamiter and hallow up the center
i need a means of smashing (crushing) so as to get as much ice as possible to sink down into the water in the insulated tank
