Hi All,

What type of wire do you typically Install on RS 485 communication on VRF equipment?

Do you use stranded or twisted...I understand the wiring should be shielded.

Do you guys know of any links to direct me to see the difference between stranded and twisted wire.

Thanks to all!

I would also use the belden cable, just remember to run it seperate from any mains electrical cables.

Thank you guys for the helpful information!

I understand running the communication wiring away from high voltage wiring may reduce the chances of interference.

When grounding the communication wiring should I ground one end at the Indoor unit or ground at the outdoor unit. I am somwwhat weary of grounding at the outdoor unit with high voltage maybe leaking to ground.

Communication wiring for "low speed" signals (rs485) should be protected from induced voltages from surrounding high energy cables and therefore grounded on only one end. It doesn't matter what end but I will recommend outdoor unit.
