Hi everyone,

Please help! I have been asked to size up an a/c unit for a room sized 2.15m x 1.00m (Ceiling height 2.43m)
All walls are internal walls, with a twin door measuring 1.64m length by 1.98m height (Wooden Doors) No windows.

The room holds 2xPC's, 1x 19" Monitor,1x modem and ethernet connecter.

The room is basically a small cupboard.

I've worked my calculations as follows:

Length of room x width of room x 337
equipment (I've calculated 4xPC's at 875Watts each, ie 3500watts) x 3.5

That gives me 12974.55 BTU/Hr or 3.8KW

My first question, are them calculations about right?

My 2nd question, if that is correct, my pipe run will be 35meters. The pipe run comes from the roof, through 5 floors, so 20meters will be verticle)
Does anyone know of a unit I could submit. Due to the pipe run I'm only finding units rated at 7KW and above (wall mounts). If this is the case will this be way to big and keep short cycling on itself.

Look forward to your help

Thanks in advance

Have you thought about using an air cooled water chiller on the roof and just pumping chilled water down to a fan coil unit?

Less refrigerant, possibly easier pipework etc.

Have a look at Daikin water chillers.

how would a 3.5kw chiller compare in price to a 3.5kw DX split?
