i facing a problem that the copeland scroll compressor dont building a pressure .

The pressure are 160 PSIG at suction and discharge both end is same .
Also compressor is taking 10 A current.

can anyone suggest me what are checkpoint to diagnoss the problem.

If suction and discharge are high then it is overcharged.
Please remove refrigerant and ensure the suction is around 65 /70 psig and discharge is 240 psi if the ambient is 35 for R-22.
please measure the subcooling and superheat so that clear picture can emerge

Check phase sequence.

I mean your scroll may be turning in the wrong direction.

first we find that the compressor is taking 80A current
Then we check the terminals at compressor end we found loaas terminal .
Then we started the system we found the leakage .
By brazing and vaccuming the system we charged the refrigerant from suction side we found the pressure is not builting . For that purpose we check the current the current is 10A i.e. normal.

I think that there sholud bre failure of Scroll hence the motor is running bt not biluding the pressure.

Can Anyone suggest on this?

Probably, first your system started loosing refrigerant, the reduced amount of gas did not cool the comp, the latter heated, thermically expanded and jammed. The loose contacts are, probably, the result of the monstrous current of the jammed motor. When the comp cooled down and the jam went it run, but, on my view your compressor now needs opening and repair.

The current and compressor's thermal protection need be improved, I wonder how motor's windings survived.

dear
there is only two posibilities
one is the compressor which you are using is auto stop modle in this model the comp has a internal safty when comp will heat up due to high or low votage or any other reason the comp will stop its pumping and you have to switch it off for three or four hours
Second is this you have to check you phase sequence it should be clock wise
Note
if the suction pressure will too low then the comp will react same like that

Is that unit heat pump with 4-way valve?

Our scroll compressor is opening on ASTP .

What are the resaons can anyone suggest .

ASTP is Apollo-Soyuz Test Project?

As we know the ASTP opens at Critical Temp i.e. 135 Deg C.
The reasons will be loss of refrigerant , gas quantity low. But in this case gas quantity is ok . also there is no refrigerant leak.
Also condenser and air flow is OK .

The compressor is ZR94 having Capacity 23.3 KW
and POwer consumption is 6.75 KW .

Is condenser is Short?
Thats Why The discharge temperature is overshooting.

Compressor is not probably pumping ; current drawn mentioned could be the magnetising current.

Hi,

To confirm the compressor pumping effect through the following ways:

Method 1: By expansion valve

Step 1; Take out the expansion valve bulb from evaporator outlet and immersed into a cold water (probably 20 Deg C less than ambient)
Step 2: Check the suction pressure reduction is happening drastically / not
Step 3: If suction pressure reducing drastically than compressor pumping is ok. If not compressor pumping is failed.

I hope this will help you to resolve the issue.

Dear All,
It's a well equipped PLC based vapour compression system. We are using grasso screw compressor. One of the compressor is getting trip often, That time it's control panel gets the "alarm 37 " .I went through the manual and observed that there is some loose connection or defective module.

I rectified the above factors. Then also it's getting trip some times.

can any one suggest some other possible causes.

If both suction and discharge are the same then the valves are bad, the amp draw should be 75% of the RLA on the M# tag

Sounds like the scroll is screwed.
Hey Nike. I did enyoy, LMAO, your reference "Apollo Soyus Test Project" what ever connection.
The first time I have seen a Croatian sense of humour.

either reverse phase if it is noisy, or the scroll is damaged.
if it is a new comprressor you will have your phases reversed or the 4 way valve is jammed in between and you are pumping your discharge into your suction.

It is not that original.;)
Someone say ASTP and you go like this:

And third result is:

Others doesn't make any sense with this thematic.;)

For sure your problem is wrong turn.change immediately one phase if is 3phase motor or change running by starting in 1phase
