Im sure someone's going to tell you why you shouldnt (There is probably some technical reason) but yes ive seen it done 100's of times and the units seem to last longer on R134. Thats the practical aspect anyway without getting into the usual are you qualified to handle care debate.

R417 was as i thought a direct drop in for R22, surely then it should work the other way R417 - R22. Obviously there is still confusion over whether the oil should be changed and i have never done it so dont take this as gospel.
Why do you want to change the gas, is R417 not available in kuwait ?
