Hi, Hoping someone can give me some advice.

I have a Zanussi fridge freezer (ZX99/5) which is about 4-5 years old. It has started to switch off and all the product lights (freezer temp control, fridge temp control, on/off button and door alarm) all flash red whilst beeping an alarm.

Manual says "major fault" but switching off the fridge/freezer for a few minutes and switching back on seems to sort it out. However, I am worried that it is going to do it when i am not here and I dont want all the food going to waste.

Not sure how much a call out of a service engineer will cost or whether it is likely to be cheaper/easier to just replace it. It should have cost around £550 when new.

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks

if it just flashing and still workin at correct temp in both fridge and freezer then it will be NTC failure. we stock them for £29

Hi Tonto, thanks for reply... what is NTC failure? Thanks.

I will pay closer attention when it happens again to see if it has actually shut down or if it is just the flashing/alarm sounding and still running ok.

Thanks again

I think I have the same problem. If I switch off at the wall and then back on the fridge freezer starts up again. The same thing happens if I press and hold the Geen light button twice.

What is the NTC?

Is it simple to replace?

Can I give this thread a bump.My Zanussi is becoming a bit more insistant with its beeping.Always seems to be working but alarm goes off 3 or 4 times a day.So are they available and where are they found on the fridg freezer unit. Many thanks D.

Can you please get the product number? It will be on the rating plate found when you remove the crisper drawer & will begin: 9284059??/??.

Hello, thanks for yor response. The number is 928405921.
If possible could I just hammer the alarm speaker into a thousand bits.I live in a flat and am not that popular at the minute.

Thanks D

Are you sure the model is correct as that product number relates to a ZX79/5SI, not a ZX99/5.

Strange how sound carries.I thought the beeping came from the top of the fridge,it actually comes from the back of the freezer.I suppose it is on the board behind the white panel. Can I just cut a wire that activates beeper or could someone tell me what the beeper looks like so I can napalm it.Thanks again D

Love the fridge hate the noise

2399907209 is the sensor part number. Whether this is actually the failed component is quite possible but not definite.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Bobby.Problem is now perhaps solved.Wife had a day off today and was woken up by the thing beeping. Two minutes with a dremel and no more beeping.Just hope FF is still cold tomorrow or it is going to be an expensive temper tantrum.

Dare I ask what did you do exactly?

Wife turned off power first then dremelled into the speaker on the main board. She tried a drill first but did not seem to get any purchase with the angle she had,so dremel it was.So far so good.
