unit giving intermittent fault of power factor and trips out, of course when engineer resets it runs away when he's on site and wont fault , any ideas ?

Check and double check all electrical connections, from meter to unit.
Phases, neutral and earth.
Also look for other power issues on site.

We once experienced something like this, in the end we rented a power supply monitoring kit (Bl@@dy expensive) and the fault was found to be under the street a block away from the building we looked after (no, I didn't pinpoint it, Southern electric did after we pointed out that the variations between the phases dropped outside regulated limits)
