I went to have a quick look at this high pressure water cooled centrifugal chiller the other day, because about once a week it is showing a high motor temperature fault. I also noticed that it had been surging as well. Apparently the motor has been changed 2 or 3 times over recent years (burnt out)

My own thought was a refrigerant leak which might explain the high motor temp and surging, and I did notice that there was oil around the drain line from the bearing end of the compressor.

I haven't got a manual for the machine but felt a little bit cautious because of the history of the motor changes. I think a soft starter was fitted as well last time the motor was changed.

Thanks

Sorry Iceman.
I have been on the Trane website to obtain you a Manual.
But as this Chiller is not a new model it is not listed.
And they advise contacting a local dealer for older models!

give me more of the model number and serial number and I will get the lit. I can get to the archives of our old lit
cvgd comes up with too many items without a bit more number....

i need wiring cvgd model. please help me

Send me a PM with your email address on there and I'll send you the diagram. I need the model number though.

Hello Peter, I never saw your message. Life is good here at the moment, well at least I can't complain and the work is OK. Plenty of it for good mechanics...

Yes I'm in QLD and we have plenty on at the moment. Saying that breakdowns are quieter, but thats when the annuals get done. We need more service techs to compensate for our workload.

If the chiller is 1990 then it was originally on R12, Hope it was coverted by Trane to 134A
If not then there could be a few compatabilty issues
Any details you can supply would help

Hi yes i have a teardown manual, but it comes with the teardown engineer
There are one or two things it does not tell you which are critical
Not trying to be difficult
I'm sure you understand
