MD11SR Smart Reefer

Hi All

I am having a problem with a MD11SR bringing up fault codes 36 motor failed to run and 37 coolant level low.

The coolant level was low at the time the fault code first appeared but now it is at the correct level but still wont clear the fault code even if the sensor is shorted to ground.

Fault code 36 has came on at the same time and the unit will not operate on standby the electric supply is fine and the coil on the contact breaker is o.k


The only way I can get the unit to operate normal on standy is to put a ground to the black wire that goes to the- on the contact breaker.

Check wire at sensor on the side of the coolant tank. Also could be sensor itself.
Check fuses etc. for code 36.

take the water temp senor out clean with scotch brite and refit

I took the coolant sensor out and cleaned it its working fine now no fault codes.

The fault code 36 has not came back on since I put a ground wire to the motor contact breaker would this indicate that the phase detection module is at fault.

We have information on the unit but I cant seem to find what would be causing fault code 36 when the power supply is o.k and all the belts are tight.

I sent you a more in depth email but basicly we need to start by checking to see if the micro is trying to send a ground. If not, we need to be sure that the micro knows there is land (A/C) voltage available.

try changing phases on you supply lead

We did change the phases over on the lorry the day we were there because when we put a ground to contact breaker the unit was running backwards which made me think the driver drove off with the lead in and pulled the wires out and stuck them back in and said nothing .

Because the owner said it was working fine the day before.

But would this not have brought up fault 38

It was late at night when I was there maybe when i go back i will remove the ground from the contactor and see what happens.

if your supply box comes ouy red yel blue and should be yel red blue changing 2 phases will only make the motor go backwards this unit has phase correction and so wont pull in contactor till you get it right

i read this yesterday and i had it happen today,the reason for phase detect is so the compressor turns the correct way with out human error i have 2 3 phase plugs on the wall side by side with one wired different from the other and we test the unit with each plug,,the simple way to check out phase detect is with the phase detect module flow chart if i new how to post it i would it really makes it simple

The reason for phase detection is for the fans.

Most compressors, unless it's a scroll, don't care.
