New Bank Holiday For Fridgies Announced
Well Sorry Gents not quite, but with a bit of a twist, this could be the biggest gathering of International 'Fridgies' Ever
With a little bit of planning we could have a 'International Fridgies Convention' The IFC every year !!!
The destination could be changed yearly to different countries & members from that country, could put together suggestions for not just a place to meet, but a good ole chin wag, bit of munch & a few beers & maybe we could even really push the boat out & look into some entertainment for the day/evening. Hotel's recommended by local members.
Lets look at a few destinations that could be on the future calender, Nz, Oz, Usa, South Africa, Canada, Russia, South America, Asia, Middle East & many more including a number of European Cities etc etc etc !
Have I caught anyones attention yet ?
Well come on then lets get started & see where this can go

Re: New Bank Holiday For Fridgies Announced
wouldn't be much good for me though, terrified of flying on planes . just can't get around the fact that 200 tons of aluminium and wire, with fuel in massive tanks stashed under passengers feet and in the fragile wings that keep these monsters in the air, can support my fragile being . Also, watched too many episodes of "air crash investigations" .

Re: New Bank Holiday For Fridgies Announced
Things are tight out there I cannot see many wanting to pay the costs involved.
I know some are even taking Holiday to do free training.
If someone would like to sponsor me I'd be up for it!

Re: New Bank Holiday For Fridgies Announced
Well I am all for at least a week on the gold coast, just to make up for you not making it to other venues, & at this rate, looks like I will have to bring some sheila's with me ! (some = 2 heads better than 1, Eeeew! ) As for biggest gathering, looks like biggest flop ( not mine - no blue pills needed, Yet ! ), so Far Is there no excitement & get up an go here ?

Was going to say, if weather was good I will buy a tent, but then you mention 'just make sure your copper is out of sight....' think may be wise to find b&b
My passport also out of date...must get that sorted asap and am sure the way you knock em back 'install' you would not notice what you was drinking after the first few gallon
Do you not just need id & not passport to go Ireland, as its not needed to fly to Edinburgh ???If the World did not Suck, We would all fall off !

Hi chemi
you up for a trip to the green land then mate ?
Numbers may be low at first but should increase yearly as they realise what they are missing !
Others may be drunk quickly, but I hardly drink .... am more thinking good company/conversation & another chance to break free from home !
I dont think you can beat the topics when enthusiastic fridgies get together

I am a nervous flyer to say the least, am of exact same beliefs as 'MikeRef' but I will do it, especially to meet up with all the regulars of Re ... will be nice to put a face to the name
would also be nice to see all the mods & the boss there, dont you think ?
This is not going way I predicted, we are up to 2 for visiting 'Al' and Ireland so far & I have 2 lovely sheila's that say they dont mind where I fly them as long as I'm paying (typical) ... thats tempting enough for me to do some touring to see other members, they can carry me luggage

Re: New Bank Holiday For Fridgies Announced
You know the real reason most immigrants stay in Australia?
Because they can't afford the flight back!
It's about $2k, that's why I've only done it the once.
(using all my money to run the biz and buy mega expensive housing here)

Re: New Bank Holiday For Fridgies Announced
Well I dont know about you gents, but I need some continent hopping for a few years, as the way I going lately, will soon be nailing the lid down on me & stoking the furnace
Will be nice to know when am sitting on me cloud, playing me harp I did manage to see something other than on TV !!
And anyway Fridgies earn bundles, the amount 'Install' earned last year he can afford to pay for a dozen of us without even blinking and I normally save half of what I earn since I stopped drinking (regular)If the World did not Suck, We would all fall off !

my earnings -her spending mean i could only afford peanuts for me not pistachio's
i had to recycle my cu collection for funding socialising activities next week also if the tax man knew what i was earning i think he would find something to sting me on.

Re: New Bank Holiday For Fridgies Announced
Yeah, never going to get rich working for yourself. Getting by comfortably is the best you can do.
You need turnover to make decent money, one person can't generate enough. A couple of "me's" would be good, and maybe someone answering the phone...
edit:
Had an annoying social gathering on the week end, no end of stories of people getting successful by getting other to work for them.
Harder to find decent help when they need a trade skill and need to be very good at it, and facts are I've been more or less on my own my entire life, left to work it out myself through childhood and in the refrig game too, during my apprenticeship just sent off on my own to go away; after that, just sent off on my to work it out myself and earn money for the company.
Speaking of "install', half of my money went to "parts", I need cheaper parts and higher mark up me thinks.
Meh. Whatever, this business thing I'll have to work out.Last edited by paul_h; 11-09-2011 at 06:42 PM.

Re: New Bank Holiday For Fridgies Announced
Well I really don't want to do that where I am now. I'll do it in a higher paying location, or a more interesting location, both with needing more interesting work than what I know about now.
Or I'll stay on my own as bad as it is and follow the big barn car shed, chilli plant and farm idea out in the country.

Good Luck to you mate,
When I looked at Oz, Darwin and northern territory was where the money was, but then I looked at temps/humidity & of course all the things that bite/kill & thought fook that, I would be safer signing up with the military
You got the right idea mate... all this chasing the bucks, working all the hours, just means one thing.... the Grim Reaper will come knocking a lot sooner !

Re: New Bank Holiday For Fridgies Announced
Yeh, Northern Territory, where it's summer all year round. Hot and sticky, not even i would want to visit there. Grizzly's toured the top end of Queensland. Wide open spaces and a long way between drinks, and now, there are areas one cannot take alcohol and can only go fishing, ( not C.M's description ), with a permit. Not good to camp anywhere near water holes or even go swimming up there as the crocs don't mind who they eat.

Re: New Bank Holiday For Fridgies Announced
Argh Mike
you got me all excited with the fishing for a second, then I read on oooh! Heard about them crocs (salties) up to six metres long, no thanks... and can not even swim in the sea up there, sharks, jellyfish, plus them blue ring octopi (is that right) on the beach, if you tread on them, then there was all the scare stories of snakes/spiders in the cooling equipment, sounds to me like I would need an Ozzie to guide me 24/7 just to make it back on the plane intact let alone alive ... got to go one day though, just anywhere but Perth as its a mini uk and thats defeating the object, I wanna meet propa Ozzies

Re: New Bank Holiday For Fridgies Announced
So where is the excitement in your life . Can't be all about women. This reminds me of one of my camping trips. I used to go away alot just to be on my own, set up the tent and camp fire next to my favourite river, have my 150 L freezer 1/4 full of meat and the 12v fridge full of stubbies and several good Clive Cussler books. The next morning, with dulled senses, i took off in search of wood for the fire then came across this pile of timber that had washed up from a flood some time ago So.. picking away at the debris, thinking of what i was going to cook up for breakfast, i looked up on top of this pile of timber and bugger me... here was this fully grown brown snake, luckily, this fellow was sluggish and was warming up in the sun before it had potential to have a go at me. Normally, i can spot disguised critters, but it was a wake up call to get my act together. Walk away slowly and do not make eye contact!.. It's always my policy to have sufficient night lighting to ward off uninvited guests while camping, to make sure nothing finds their way into the tent while i'm asleep , but the odd rogue cow or Bandicoot manages to stick it's nose in and take off with something, usually potatoes.. Ha, you haven't lived untill you make peace with your natural surroundings. cannot speak for countries that have bears or lions! Damn, i would freak out!!..Mike from AU Following link, thanks to Australian Reptile Park http://www.reptilepark.com.au/animalprofile.asp?ID=109

Re: New Bank Holiday For Fridgies Announced
My excitement mate is the two 'f's ridgie & anny you had me on the edge of me seat with this one mate, was thinking waters edge (croc/snake) glad you knew what to do & as I said above, you need an ozzie to survive oz ! Notice from the link that they say mainly eastern area's for the brown snake, but a friend in perth says they are plentiful there, especially around the golf course's, nice .... Got you down for one of my destinations mate(eek i here you say), sydney, melbourne & adelaide.......would love to go darwin but could not take 40degree temps & 90+ humidity...not the sort of weather you easily get climatised to
Now bears & lions, I would absolutely love to meet tame ones, magnificent beasts, that would give me some real excitement, maybe the last ever tick of me heart though,
