Re: HVAC design
I have started using the Carrier System Design Manuals. They are a 10 volume set, and very informative, but not for beginner.
Available through Carrier.

The original comes in 4 or 5 parts and is available from over the pond. I'll dig mine out and get the ISBN number for you .

Re: HVAC design
There was another Trane Air onditioning Handbook. It must have been sometimes in the 50s. I still have the book. It is very informative. In 60s the refrence book used to be one of Carrier and another of Trane. Danfoss had a number of books for Controls. They were all very good.
I still have the Carrier and the Trane, but some one whacked the Danfoss Books. They were full of informations.

Re: HVAC design
Jepoy, these books aren't available in digital format, you have to buy these.
You're asking Samarjit to do something illegal.
If everybody starts copying these books, then Mr. Dossat will never get back all the money he spend to write these very good books.
You can find second hand on Ebay or Amazon, sometimes for a fraction of the new price. It's better to keep your mouth shut and give the impression that you're stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.

Re: HVAC design
While this is probably not diploma level, I recommend starting with these two books to get the basics of load calculation and air distribution.
Manual J Residential Load Calculation (8th Edition - Full)
and
Manual D - Residential Duct Systems
These are available from some technical book sellers or from

Re: HVAC design
Hi,
For all the areas of air conditioning that you have specified and for the level of study i would suggest to go for "Fundamentals of refrigeration and air conditioning - Author: Edward G Pita".
It gives a thorough insight on the subject alongwith a practical viewpoint.

Re: HVAC design
hello, since the last entry is from april, i do wonder a bit about who is out there. i could be on the wrong thread. i almost answered a question from 2006. i did not have THE answer, just a reply. i designed an HVAC system, heat recovery running 10 to 1 at 4kW in. $10K pays for itself in a bit more than 11/2 years. not the slightest interested person that i could find in my area. BC. Canada. So i have turned my attention back to a smaller more simple electrical inovation. i will check back.

Re: HVAC design
All,
Try the following book, 'A Practical Guide to HVAC Building Services Calculations' Published by BSRIA (Building Services Research & Information Association) and supported by CIBSE (Charterd Institute of Building Services Engineers).
Hope these are of assistance.

Re: HVAC design
Quite a lot of people from around the globe.
Amongst them we have students, apprentices and a vast range of knowledge covering all sorts of things.
Some of these threads do not need to be constantly fed, read or updated.
Your posts regarding your plans for a heat pump may not of had the dramatic interest that you seem to be seeking because most of those here are working types who do not enter into providing backing for entrepreneurs.
If there had been more technical details then perhaps you would have had more response; also starting a fresh thread with you thoughts instead of tacking on the end of someone else's tends to stop replies as people concentrate on the original thread core.Brian - Newton Abbot, Devon, UK
