Calculating KW
If I have the tons/hour of a compressor how do I calculate the KW output of the compressor?

Hi there,
TON means [BTU/hr] / 12000
TONS /hr ????
Also, TON or BTU/hr or kW can be converted to each other if they all represent thermal power. If you mean compressor electrical power (kW) then you can not convert thermal power to electrical one.

Hookstar has got confused with BThu/hr and TR (Tons) He might be under the impression that Tons is also per hour.

Ton-Hour is a valid term, but it is used more often in thermal storage than normal refrigeration systems.
If you have a system with a 1 Ton capacity, that runs for 18 hours to maintain the temperature of some space, then you can say you have used 18 Ton-Hours to provide this cooling.
This type of terminology is helpful when working with thermal storage systems. You need to know the total cooling load on a per hour basis for the entire time cycle (168 hours per week or 24 hours per day).
You might consider this the total area under the curve for the load profile.If all else fails, ask for help.

[TON.hr] is energy but TON is power, i.e. energy/time.
BUT he said TON/hr which I don't understand.

My guess is he is talking about one of two things...
1) he said kw output, which could imply heat rejection measured in kW.
2) Or, he is looking for a conversion of Tons to kW(R) (refrigeration capacity in kW)
It would help if he participated more in his own post???If all else fails, ask for help.

Hello. I want to know the power consumption of a small refrigerator. the specification sheet says the power output is 320 watts. I know that the power input depends on the efficiency of the motor and other components, but being conservative, is there a factor that would let me know it?

Devide the output with 2 tot 2.2 and you have +/- the input for a refrigerator.

Hi Dear Moderators & Members
I would like to add my views to that of Samarjit, US Iceman & Peter_1. I have also noticed that the original person who put forward a post disappears after the first post. I hope you should address the original person along with the member you are giving suggestions counter suggestions which will encourage him to participating in the post.
With in a very short period of time becoming a member I was able post more & more posts because members like Samarjit, Lana, GM Pony, Viking, Monkey Spanners, Shanman, and TXiceman to name few called me saying “Hi Suny”. That encourage me and therefore I feel I am not isolated in the form and you all recognize me.
Even in this instance no body addressed hookster and you all were discussing the post among your selves, which isolated hookster. Therefore I would urge you all to address as Hi hookster & member’s name you want to address as an example even you quote his post.
Please do not think that I have put you all learned moderators & members an embarrassing situation. This is my personal experience I have gained from this valuable forum. Hope you all agree to my suggestion positively. Thank you for reading this.
