Running out of cable...
...or just being mean.
You install a rooftop package in the centre of a 10x10m roof. The power comes from a panel on the ground level at one of the corners.
What is the minimum length of cable needed?

Re: Running out of cable...
12.5m plus a bit to join into the unit itself.
Edit, sorry mis-read the dimensions, as you doLast edited by Brian_UK; 02-04-2007 at 09:49 PM.

Re: Running out of cable...
Hi, nh3simman
7,5m+a bit to join (say 8m), but that is not correct connection at all, but for sure very practical

Re: Running out of cable...
I agree its about 8, but i like right angles so prob wouldnt go diagonal to the corner of the roof and down!personally id say 13 for a neat install!

Re: Running out of cable...
Ignoring the fiddly bits at the ends, the type of cable and best practice.
The answer must be between
1. A straight line joining the two points, 7.5m
(yes Jossip, you can't go through the roof or the wall)
and
2. Centre to top corner + top corner to bottom corner, 9.57m

Re: Running out of cable...
Hi, nh3simman
Why not , what if I have only 7,5m+ of cable.
Take a look to those pictures, if they can leave cables as shown I can also push them through the wall and roof

Tell me something now
Your second solution for me is not right too, we are engineers. To make it properly we need 12.5m of cable. I like the best practice, sorry Chillin
Best regards, Josip

Re: Running out of cable...
OK Josip, I see your point about messy wiring.
(the answer is still 9m)
