31 Major Causes of Failure
As Ive had a few days rest Ive picked up one my favourite books by Napolean Hill titled, "Think and Grow Rich"
To kick in the New Year and to generate some value added content in this forum of a non technical nature I will go through the thirty one causes of failure listed in the book.
I will add one every now and then, so without much adeau here are the first two.
1:
Lack of a well defined purpose in life
To achieve success each man must have a CENTRAL PURPOSE. without it there is no HOPE of success.
Aim at some SPECIFIC GOAL in life
98 percent of failures in life have no such purpose or goals
2:
Lack of ambition to AIM above MEDIOCRITY
There is no hope for anyone who is so indifferant as not to want to get ahead in life . and who is not willing to pay that price
3
Lack of Self Discipline
Discipline comes from SELF CONTROL.
One must control ones NEGATIVE QUALITIES
ie: Before we can control external things ( outside our scope) we must learn how to control ourselves.
SELF MASTERY is one of the hardest things to achieve. Conquer yourself first, cos if you dont your self will Conquer You.
I know thats strange, but you have to Conquer yourself, the body will follow the path of least resistance, and lead you down a slippery slope of decline, hence, You have to Conquer these weaknesses within yourself first.
Look in the Mirror
What you will see..........Either your BEST Freind..........or your WORST ENEMY
Its strange isnt it??? I never ever thought I could be so damaging to myself, but yet we are.........All the time. Look at our actions, sometimes our behaviour is far from exeplary.
Please note: I have not copied out verbatim from book . I am merely echoing, eschewing the points that are raised in the book.
But it makes for intresting reading.
If members have so far enjoyed what Ive written please say so and I will continue. If you think.....No, Ill stop!!

Re: 31 Major Causes of Failure
This is probably one the most commonest reasons for failure
PROCRASTINATION
This is one of the most common cause of FAILURE
Beside every human being stands THE SHADOW OF PROCRASTINATION
He WAITS to SPOIL your chance of SUCCESS
Most people go through LIFE , Waiting..........for that period, WHEN THE TIME WILL BE RIGHT ! to do something worthwhile.
DO NOT WAIT
The TIME will NEVER be JUST RIGHT
Start where YOU STAND....
WORK with what TOOLS you HAVE at you command
You will find........BETTER TOOLS, as you go along

Re: 31 Major Causes of Failure
PERSISTENCE
Most people are...........GOOD STARTERS
but........ POOR FINISHERS
People tend to GIVE UP, at the first HINT of DEFEAT
THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE FOR PERSISTENCE
THE MAN who PERSISTS, Does not GIVE UP..........will find.....
that that " OLD MAN OF FAILURE" gets TIRED.....and goes away, HE LEAVES YOU ALONE
OLD MAN FAILURE CANNOT COPE WITH A MAN WHO IS PERSISTENTLast edited by Abe; 29-12-2006 at 02:30 PM.

Re: 31 Major Causes of Failure
NEGATIVE PERSONALITY
Success eludes that one who REPELS OTHERS with his NEGATIVITY PERSONALITY
Success is achieved by application of POWER
POWER is HARNESSED by CO OPERATING WITH OTHERS
When you, REPEL OTHERS..............there is no HARVEST
YOU HAVE NO POWER

LACK OF CONTROLLED SEXUAL URGE
SEX ENERGY is the most poweful of ALL STIMULI which can stirr up ACTION and MOTIVATE
Because it is so POWERFUL and EMOTION.............it must be CONTROLLED

UNCONTROLLED DESIRE TO WANT SOMETHING FOR NOTHING
The GAMBLING INSTINCT, drives millions of people to FAILURE

It's impossible to make anything foolproof because fools are so ingenious...
Don't ever underestimate the power of stupid people when they are in large groups.
Please, don't teach me how to be stupid....
No job is as important as to jeopardize the safety of you or those that you work with.

Re: 31 Major Causes of Failure
I know everyone wants me to go through all the 31, but it takes time to type..........so bear with me!!!
But let me tackle Control of Sexual Urge
We live in a world..........surrounded by , inundated by sexual messages............Society is much more promiscuos then it once was. The opportunities for sexual relations are increased, not decreased.
As a person we either " cave in " to the expenditure of time, effort, into these pursuits............or we instead motivate, channel the brains thinking , thought patterns into other alternative areas..........and resist, desist from continually wanting more and more sex.
The more sex we have, the more we want..........its like a cigarettes, smoke one, youll soon need other.
So............train your mind, discipline yourself...to put sex down on the line of priorities........instead of being there at the top of the list and focus.
Yes, love with your mutual partner , ( wife, partner) is another thing altogether........
Love in that sense is wholly wholesome and exhilirating.
I think more the flirtatios pursuit of the quarry leading to clandestine liasons and the attempts to reach heightened peaks of sexual activity.
Phewwwwwwww, thats worn me out!!!

Re: 31 Major Causes of Failure
Lol he can't get laid so he figures its a bad thing, got to love somes logic.
in the end we are worm food so the enjoyment one gets from life is all that matters, and ones enjoyment is perportional to the enjoyment they can bring to others. Money in of its self is meaningles, it is a simple by product of so called modern society.
As they say no man who has friends & good family is ever poor.
Key to real succes is so simple, be your self, be honest, but this is success for life, I think that guys going for the success of the bank.
That or I'm a simple farm pony who just wants to live simple and content.
