pool heat pump
Hi I am trying to sort out other peoples **** ups out as usual and need help on this one . its a air energy 550 ti3 heat pump on 407c and only giving 2c diferance the coil is not swetting and pressure is +10c suction . i do know that the water throug put is about 1/3 more than it should be so poss over condencing? air temp is about 24c today as well. in sunny costa del sol. help?????

the unit can be on for 4days and only rais water by 2c and thats in summer . in winter the coil frezzes up.

It's normal in winter coils freezes, especially if on the condensing side the pool water is cold. Untill water warms up, there's no way to keep condensing pressure high enough.
What is the SH and SC? How much the water warms up between in and out of the condenser (not the pool, just the condenser).
Have you tried to calculate the heat loss from the pool to the actual heating capacity of the heat pump?

Hi Coolflow
Water temp rise is not a good performance indicator, its the air temp difference accross the air Hx that matters. To measure this you will need two thermometers ideally, one in the ambient air and one in the air Hx discharge but make sure the fan & Hx are clean.
Armed with the temp diff you should be able to calculate the heat pickup providing you know the fan performance, if you don't, contact the heat pump manufacturer who should be able to give you this info. If you have the book supplied with the pump the target performance may be listed. On pool systems the air temp diff is more reliable than water diff because its not system specific and its also greater, probably around 4dC. However you will need to know both wet & dry bulb temperatures to get an accurate calculation of the heat recovered. You will also need to know the electrical energy input if you are trying to evaluate the COP or actual performance. However do not use rated amps v measured amps as the yardstick for establishing if the pump is performing properly.
Performance is quite sensitive to ambiant air temperature and actual pool water temperature, the cooler the air and the hotter the pool the less recovery you will get from the air and the lower the COP will be.

The air temperature is 24 C, the condensor can not freeze-up because hot gas is in it. You better read the post more carefully before confusing somebody.
