use of reverse cycle air cons ( heat pump) in high ambient temp
Hi,
I am looking for some advise / opinion on the use of reverse cycle aircons for the brooding of day old chicks.
The ideal brooding temp for the first week is approx 30 Cel.
I've seen that most simple domestic heat pumps will heat up to about 31 Cel and therefore should work.
However, I have some concern on how effective the ' heating mode' is when external ambient temps reach 26-28 Cel
Plse advise

Re: use of reverse cycle air cons ( heat pump) in high ambient temp
Most makes of reverse cycle heat pumps (heat/cool air conditioning) will not heat when the ambient temperature exceeds 23C.

Thks Frank
Plse explain. I thought heat pump efficiency / Performance improves with increased ambient temps

Re: use of reverse cycle air cons ( heat pump) in high ambient temp
It does, but for air conditioning design, heat mode is not normally required when ambient is above 23C. At this point, cooling mode is required.

Thks Frank.
I will research it further / try it and post the results
I see someone (Proximity) posted a similar question in 2020.
Plse advise as I am not too familiar with how this site works...is there any way of contacting that person and asking if his trial worked ?
