Re: Buffer Tank
It depends on system capacity mostly, however
According to York: V=N x 60 x Z / 4.18dt
V= total system water content (Litres)
N= chillers first capacity step (kW)
Z= minimum allowable running time (min 5 mins)
dt= temp difference at minimum partload condition (say 2 deg C.).
This allows the chiller to operate smoothly at low load capacities and should provide sufficient thermal storage to give at least 5 mins operation after the machine has stopped running. This ensures the equipment doesn't keep stopping and starting at low load conditions..Brian - Newton Abbot, Devon, UK

Re: Buffer Tank
if the chiller capacity 633 Kw @ 7/12 deg.C, So
V= 633*60*5/4.18*2 = 22715 liters. Is this right ? i think too much quantity
and please this tank should divide type with primary pump and secondary or can be normal tank like they recommend in attached file

Re: Buffer Tank
You have used that calculation based on the maximum capacity whereas the chiller minimum is 25% and the minimum dt is 3⁰K.
By my calc that gives a figure of 3875 litres.
The chiller manufacturer should be able to give you a recommendation.Brian - Newton Abbot, Devon, UK

Re: Buffer Tank
Consult factory for sizes, dimensions and specifications. Chilled water buffer tanks are essential components for chiller systems.
