Magoo, Very sorry to say.
Hi Everyone,
Unsure if any of you know but Magoo (Grant) from this forum has sadly passed away.
He was diagnosed with cancer back in February and passed away a couple of weeks ago. He was at home and very peaceful, he was surrounded by his family and so much love. He had 3 months of hell fighting this and fought until the very end, such a battler.
He was a big contributor to this forum and passed his knowledge onto so many including myself.
He will be sadly missed.

Oh!
Wow!
I wondered why he was so quiet lately.
He and I used to talk loads off forum.
And I know many others did the same.
Life is not fair is it!
What a great Guy!
Total respect and great sadness,
He never said anything to me>
GOD Bless The GUY.

Re: Magoo, Very sorry to say.
The sad thing was, just how quick it happened. About 10 weeks from when he first got taken into hospital until his passing.
He still had so many things that he wanted to do, it came as a complete shock.
Life really isn't fair. The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits.

Re: Magoo, Very sorry to say.
He mentioned to me he had terminal cancer, not knowing it was so far advanced.
So a shock to me sad to hear it.
Is there anything in forum to indicate someone has passed away on there posts?
Thought it may be a good idea

Re: Magoo, Very sorry to say.
.
I had spoken to Grant on and off many times over
the years, he kept trying to get jobs for me in NZ
and kept selling the place as the dream Country to
live in.
His love for his family, Country and trade were very
evident.
Sad news and a real loss to family, friends and
this online community.
Rest in peace friend, our thoughts and prayers go
out to you and your family.
Regards
Rob

Re: Magoo, Very sorry to say.
So sorry to read of Magoo's passing. I hope his wise words have passed onto many of us. RIP my friend.
Here is one of Magoo's PM's from 2016.
Gidday Mike how are you?
Funny the things i remember when a name is mentioned, like open drive compressors.
As a second year apprentice a hundred years ago in the 60's I was thrown in the deep end and told to install everything in a new meat plant, about 8 open drive frigidaire condensing units and dozens of evaporators in chill floors areas and beef quarter blast chillers and a freezer, friggen miles of pipe work. The Frigidaire open drives were same or similar to kelinators with external bellows shaft seals that always dripped oil. They were supplied by General Motors Frigidaire Division NZ. Plant is probably still running, everything was build like a brick out house, cork insulation and plastered walls, way before polystyrene. All on R12, think the freezer was r22.
Geez I am old. A lot of water has gone under the bridge since then.

Re: Magoo, Very sorry to say.
I was notified the day of his death by his long time customer which he had passed to me. I had been meaning to log on and inform RE community for awhile but you bet me to it.
Magoo was all about fridge a very smart guy and a real loss to the industry. He loved to drink & smoke so his cancer is no surprise. He shared a ton of information to me through my early years so i will be forever in debt.
Rest in peace Grant
