Re: 50 Ways to Improve Your Life IN 2006
The pertinent word is,
Master the " art"
Now I am beginning to comprehend that debate can be an art form.
But too often it is quickly construed as criticism, and hence the value of an argument is quickly eroded.Any opinions, statements and facts expressed in this message do not constitute legal advice in any shape or form and is given for a general outlook in nature. Re: 50 Ways to Improve Your Life IN 2006
So true. But argument fails to elect. Freedom of speech permits argument. One hopes that a society that embraces free speech permits elections. But after that, going back to the beauty of argument, a single non sequitur erases all premise.
"The second word is off."
I don't know what that last sentence means.
Thus there is no argument, and I wind up voting for the person who explains the non sequiturs, within the free speech environment.Last edited by Dan; 29-12-2005 at 05:03 PM.

Re: 50 Ways to Improve Your Life IN 2006
"The second word is off."
The first word is usually an expletive.
Although I fully understand that the combination of these two words does not form an argument in any way shape or form, it does usually indicate that I am unwilling to enter in to an argument especially after the invoice has been issued. Arguments consume time and money, both are precious to me and to have to endure some damned fool whine on about having to pay VAT or other such thing that is out of my control consumes my time and hense wastes the precious time that I have left to live.
My reply to quote 33 does refer to a well known Hanna Barbera animation.
Marion lives several houses down from me, though I suspect that she is not the Marion referred to as she would definately not fit on an iPod without breaking itKarl

I try to cover all bases also Abe, But I'm sure that you also have encountered those who feel compelled to argue over what has already been written and agreed, this is where my two little words come in very usefull. It is always amazing to note how many people will spend hours arguing a point in the belief that they will save money by doing so. I will listen to an argument all day but I only charge by the hour

Re: 50 Ways to Improve Your Life IN 2006
Karl,
You will always "get those" and its virtually impossible to cover everything.
Trouble is, I dont have a very good sixth sense which alerts me to a potential problematic scenario ensuing...
I always end up learning the "hard way"
