home refrigeration/freezer problem?
Hey folks,
not sure if this is the proper link for this question or the right forum! I have a GE refrigerator/freezer in my condo. changed the thermostat and fan. my freezer seems cold enough, but the ice cream gets soft? if i turn the number down in the dial in the refrigerator,I can get the ice cream hard but wind up freezing everything below? I have adjusted the shutter that sends air to the fridge box but can't seem to keep the ice cream hard? the meats, and ice and other stuff is hard as a rock? any ideas? bought ice cream yesterday, and withing hours was like soft serve , ruined now!

Re: home refrigeration/freezer problem?
Can you put a thermometer in to the freezer section and record the reading and then put it into the fridge section and record the reading, then post the results?
Otherwise we are like you and guessing what is going off.

Re: home refrigeration/freezer problem?
I did not get the thermometers yet, but have a question. i suspect the magnets around the perimeter of the freezer is weak. if I close the refigerator too hard the freezer opends ever so slightly so maybe that might be the loss of cold or addition of heat?

Re: home refrigeration/freezer problem?
If the door seal is leaky then you will get moisture ingress which will condense onto the evaporator and reduce the efficiency

Re: home refrigeration/freezer problem?
You can normally get replacement door seals from the unit manufacturer, or by a specialist company to suit your box dimensions. Also check your freezer is standing level and not rocking as this can cause your problem . Use a spirit level or bubble to check it
