Cleaning an evaporator with typical cleaning solutions
Hi, many techs in Greece are using general cleaning solutions (such as products used for cleaning the bath or the floor) in order to clean the evaporator.
They find them at local markets and cost much more cheaper than buying the appropriate chemical solution for the job.
They believe that since they rinse the evaporator there is no problem.
Many general cleaning solutions have anti bacterial action.
They also say that the evaporator will not be corroded since they rinse the evaporator well with water.
What do you think about that?

Re: Cleaning an evaporator with typical cleaning solutions
I am not an expert but wonder if a water mixed with vinegar solution could also work?
Cheers

Re: Cleaning an evaporator with typical cleaning solutions
I believe the best way to clean an evaporator is by using steam vapour.
Even if you use an expensive cleaning product, the steam vapour does all the work.
Personally ,I use the steam vapour for all parts of an air condition ( fan, evaporator, swings and the like).

Re: Cleaning an evaporator with typical cleaning solutions
I see what you mean but IMO it looks far more professional turning up to a maintenance job using the appropriate specialist cleaners rather than something your customer could pick up from a local shop.

Re: Cleaning an evaporator with typical cleaning solutions
I brought that subject of cleaners since some technicians are now buying cleaners from local markets. They claim that they can find the same ingredients for the cleaning procedure at much lower price than a specialized product.
