Re: time for a new episode
Nice place Melbourne...loved it. The old prison is worth a visit as is the Market, Old Train Station (including underground casino) the Prudential tower and of course, the BEACH. Have a great semi retirement.

Re: time for a new episode
Melbourne is one of the few places you can have the four seasons, in one day!
I'm originally from there, but like a bit more sun in winter though, many things to do just the same.

Re: time for a new episode
Thanks guys for all your good wishes it's not a done deal yet but things are very promising,I believe that if you work hard there you get rewarded well, four seasons in one day ? But no snow drifts as for the apprentice sorry Rob but I tip my hat you know more than many I have encountered,as for Grizzly old buddy I won't be getting involved with the stuff you gave me good advice about a few years ago and if it works out then of course I will participate on this site seeking help and offering help,my family here will be missed as I will miss them but hey I will return from time to time, the job that's been offered is helping a growing company expand and they seem to like my way of thinking we met at a trade show in Germany earlier this year and some of the products they market are revolutionary in their field which is why I like the idea of being part of the team I have nothing to lose see an opportunity take it if it doesn't work out at least I tried?.

Re: time for a new episode
Hi cadwaladr
There is a shortage of experienced industrial / heavy commercial mechanics, we have a few South Africans and a couple Kiwi mechanics working for us.
I am not sure about A/C and domestic / light commercial mechanics as I am in the industrial field.

Re: time for a new episode
It's heavy commercial and they dip into transport as their clients have both and me having experience in both makes me attractive to them I guess?

Re: time for a new episode
Nice, good luck. Melbourne is an awesome City, great shopping, if you like that stuff, very stylish city, fantastic restaurants and cafes, heaps of cool bars tucked away down trendy alleys. Great looking and well turned out women, attractive city in itself, St Kilda beach, I could go on...
But yes, can have and is known for 4 seasons in one day and does get cold in the winter. Of all the cities in Aus I'd move to from NZ, Melbourne would be top of the list.

Re: time for a new episode
Hi cad
after all the warm fuzzies is your prospective employer going to support you through all the legislation requirements to be a refrigeration mechanic as we are called in OZ.
any and all what ever quals you have now will most likely be NOT recognized in Australia, add to the mix is State of Victoria is very unionised, no qualifications equals low pay rate. Double check what you are signing up to.
Apart from that Melbourne is a great city, and with possible 4 seasons a day literally, wind from desert equals hot, wind from southern ocean equals cold and mixes in between.
Good call though moving half way around the world, best of luck.

Re: time for a new episode
Hi Charlie, well accustomed to Devon spent many a good holiday there so many moons ago,it's a tough call but oz wins and you can get tea as for the price of refrigerant they pay a lot more than we do for the stuff, but the licencing /audit is stricter than here I have posted before on wholesalers here letting people have it without certification that point is being addressed by the powers and the company involved are so I believe going to be prosecuted, evidence gathering takes time but I am informed that it's imminent. Will I miss the UK of course but hey as I said before life is life no second chance live it enjoy it no use being the richest man in the graveyard!!!
