determining coil static pressure
Fellows, I'm trying to determine ROUGH range of static pressures to narrow down fan selection. Is there a relatively simple program to do this, other than one made (and kept) by the coil manufacturers?
It would be nice to be able to input face area, coil depth, number of rows, tube size and fin characteristics and come out with some numberLast edited by MikeHolm; 14-02-2015 at 07:15 PM.

Re: determining coil static pressure
Imposible. You will need too many parameters from each coil manufacturer and even then, it will be depend on fan manufacturer .
What do need it for?

Re: determining coil static pressure
I have a coil size designed for an evap. I know the fin spacing, tube size and layout etc. I don't know what the pressure drop will be for that coil. It is the only piece of info that I cannot give to the fan manufacturer for proper sizing. They will size the fan.

And the coil manufacturer can not give you that info?
Fins come in many shapes and coating, important data.

Re: determining coil static pressure
I could go that route but I am also trying to learn the "feel" of the process, if that makes any sense. It is the way I learn which is by doing. This way I know if something is not quite right. I am very good at hydronics because I can picture the energy moving. I am trying to get that same understanding from refrigeration. It is taking time. I will go to a coil manufacturer and get the details.
Also, I have one 3 row coil 30 by 24" and would like to get a rough idea what size fan to use. Doesn't have to be spot on as it is just for experimenting with.Last edited by MikeHolm; 15-02-2015 at 12:00 AM.

Hi, Mike
not sure, but maybe you can get some idea here ...

maybe you will need this one...

if you are eager to learn ....
Hope this is of some help ...

Re: determining coil static pressure
So, to get a check on some coil designs, I went to a couple coil manufacturers. Amazing... one of the coil manufacturers cannot size up the coil because the low sat temp causes issues with the program !!!!! I'll wait for the second one but I am surprised.
