Can i jet wash the outdoor unit

    As thread title,

If i isolate power can i jet was from the front of the unit through the fans onto the coils at the back, or will water damage the fan motors?

    Reason :
less dust than blowing nitro through
    Poor access
    Speed
    Hopefully good result.

    Any comments

    Coil cleaner?

In short, the answer to your question is yes.
Watching apprentices jetwash coils through the fans is one of the great pleasures in life... Sadly like so many other pleasures one that never lasts for long. As there is more water ending up on the apprentice than on the coil they soon learn to do it from behind or just use a coil cleaner.

Also don't get too close or you will wreck the coil fins.

The units have been poorly installed and have poor access to rear and sides... One of few installs ive seen this rubbish.

I'll be taking over the maintenance contract and want a quick method that uses minimal water ie jet wash .... Can do a full dirty car with 25ltr

Take the fan off and wash it out that way, no risk of water in the motor then. Don't use coil cleaner unless you are going to really rinse the coil well afterwards as it will rot the fins once the water evaporates and leaves the chemical behind.
Mostly found in Oxfordshire, UK :)

Or put a bag over the motor & tape / tie it so it's reasonably water tight.
I have done it through the fans, after removing the the grille first! Not too bad that way, if you engage your brain.
